For the journalism sequence Gateway lll, we were assigned the task to help the owner of Bounce Naja Rossoff, improve her social media and advertising. Bounce is a local gymnastics and recreation center in Eugene, what makes it unique is the immediate passion and drive you feel when you walk inside. Naja specifically, created this gymnastics center from scratch which is why we chose to shine the spotlight on her story. This documentary style video was meant to tell Naja's story, meanwhile showing the audience what makes Bounce so special.
Intensive Italian in Lecce, Italy
For the summer of 2017, I studied in the small town of Lecce in southern Italy. Here I was able to fully immerse myself in the culture, language and new surrounding. I chose to make a collection of snippets from this experience as my final project. What made this trip unlike any other was the institution SIS in Lecce, that was run by the most genuine professors. My main focus was to show the audience how a small town and its community can welcome foreigners in the most authentic way. I chose to do it primarily in Italian, so that this institution could then use it to market their program.
Top Ad and Culture
For this class in the advertising sequence, we were given the task to pick a subculture that wasn't very known in the market. Our team had to familiarize ourselves with the subculture and create an ad for a product of our choice. We chose the glassblowing community in Eugene, and safety glasses as our product.
We wanted to create something that would showcase their personality and dedication to the craft. An idea we thought would help achieve this, was by making it full of color and life. One of our team members hand drew a design of a typical glassblower, and then it was my task to edit it on Photoshop.
For the second Ad, we chose a picture of a women carefully working with her torch. I outlined her on photoshop and added colors to bring out the creativity that is happening, while her face and body are carefully crafting. The glasses in both are meant to provide security, and comfort.
